Dreaming of my Neighbour
Sheikh Shibli(Rahmatullahi alaiyh) once said, “ One of my neighbours passed away. Soon thereafter I happened to see him in a dream and asked him, “What happened to you ?“ He answered, “O Shibli, I have indeed passed through the most terrifying ordeal of great hardship. Even at the time of the interrogation by the angels, Munkar and Nakeer, I experienced a terrible ordeal.” I then thought to myself, “O Allah, why am I suffering such hardship? Did I not die on Islam?” Then I heard a voice which said, “This is all because of your extreme lack of caution in the use of your tongue in the world.” When these two angels were about to punish me, a handsome person in the most beautiful form came between myself and them. From him came the most fragrant smell. He dictated to me the answers to the questions of the angels and as he dictated, so I answered. Thereupon, I asked him, “ May Allah have mercy on you ! Who are you?” He replied, “I am that person who had been created from the great number of salaat(ie. Duroods) on Rasulullah(sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam) that you have recited. I have been commanded to hasten to your assistance whenever you should be in need of me.” (Qowlul Badee)
O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your Beloved, who is the best of All creation.
O Allah, Bestow mercy upon Muhammad(sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam) as numerous as the number of times, as those who remember him, and bestow mercy upon Muhammad (sallallahu alaiyhi wasallam) as numerous as the number of times as those who neglect to remember him.
